Contest! Halloween Book Giveaway!

It's a no-brainer. Halloween is like my Christmas. And I imagine if you're reading this, you feel similarly.

As such, I'm pretty stoked to announce a fantastic book giveaway!

Some of the best new Horror writers working today will be contributing signed copies of their latest works, e-books, and I will be giving away some old school "classics" to give ONE LUCKY WINNER a massive pile of scares, gore and grue to read into the night.

We are talking about some of my favorite reads of 2017 here. This isn't a contest to be missed.

Glenn Rolfe's Blood and Rain.
This one reads like a blast from the hey day of horror novel past. Werewolves, lots of blood and well...rain...from one of the nicest dudes writing in the biz. Originally published by Samhain, Rolfe has recently re-published the book himself and it's a killer. From the author of The Haunted Halls, Chasing Ghosts and Becoming comes a gory, fun throwback to all the things we love about these books!

Patrick Lacey's We Came Back (Sinister Grin Press).
One of my favorite reads of the year!! Tentacled creatures and teenage vampire cults from the author of Dream Woods, one of my favorite reads of last year..bets are on that Lacey writes one of my favorites of 2018?? Let's see.

Jeremy Hepler's The Boulevard Monster (Bloodshot Books).
Another of my favorite reads this year, and the best debut I've read yet. Supernatural anxiety-inducing villains abound...you will never look at Blue-Jays the same again! I adored this book and am honored to be able to provide someone with this nail biter of a read.

Adam Cesare's Video Night (Black T-shirt Books).
A rare and out of print copy of one of my all-time favorites! The book that single-handedly got me BACK into reading Horror Fiction, it's Night of the Creeps meets Henenlotter in a VHS package. And it's the original, out of print edition published by Samhain. Not to be missed!

William Carl's The School That Screamed.
This guy is a hidden gem of horror writers...and this is a great place to start. Demonic nuns scooping out eyeballs. Need I say more??? Honored to live in the same city as a guy who writes as awesome as this!

    I have met Jeffrey Combs several times but the first three or four, he was not able to sign anything. The last time I met him, I asked if he would sign my Re-Animator DVD as I already had the director and several cast signatures on it. He advised that he was only there to spend time with a friend and could not sign the disc. I pleaded with him and he said, “if I sign it for you, I have to sign it for everyone else.”
    I leaned in real close and said, “Fuck it, let’s go in the men’s room!!!”
    I am now the proud owner of a Re-Animator DVD with Jeffrey Combs signature.

    No, really. If you're digging the Schoell, you should treat yourself to R. Patrick Gates 'Grimm Memorials'. Seriously unhinged, politically incorrect/somewhat troubling. The usual cardboard characters, but the autumnal atmosphere is thick, and there's a seriously morbid imagination on display here. Gruesome pulp at it's finest.

    My something cool/ When I was 18 I got a fortune printout from a fortune teller machine in SF. I stuck it in my copy of Strange Stories, Amazing Facts. I left home and all that. I went to visit my Mom this summer and found the book with the fortune inside. Everything this old fortune says is true. Weird right?

    Something cool? Hmmmm... I'm currently halfway through Borderland by S.K. Epperson and I am loving it! I love small towns that are not all that they seem to be. Any recommendations along those lines?

      Thanks a ton! But hey, check out the works of Bentley Little...does a lot of good small town stuff...the last book I reviewed may appeal to you, It's Loose by Warner Lee.

      And The Amulet by A.R. Morlan conveys the small town mentality better than anything I can think of. But be forewarned, it's a very slow and bizarre one.

Per my last post, I recently moved and as a by-product, most of my collection, new and old are boxed up and awaiting a new bookshelf-home.
